Liupanshui, China, August 17, 2010 –Thai beach volleyballers are assured their gold medal at the 2010 AVC Beach Tour Liupanshui Open here after Thailand 1 and Thailand 2 respectively crushing their rivals from China and Kazakhstan in comfortable straight sets in the women's semifinals.
Thailand's Jarunee Sannok and Usa Tenpaksee, gold medalists at the Bali-hosted Asian Beach Games in Indonesia, started impressively when the top seeds crushed Kazakhstan's Mashkova Tatyana/Tsimbalova Irina 2-0 (15-17, 15-14), the top finisher of Pool D, in 37 minutes to enter the women's final.
Jarunee Sannok and Usa Tenpaksee scored three wins all in straight sets to top Pool A. The Thai duo thrashed China's Li Dan/Lin Lingling 2-0 (15-8, 15-7) and Malaysian duo Luk Teck Hua/Beh Shun Thing in straight set 15-11, 15-8 .on Monday before beating Ng Tin Lai/Chan Mei Kit of Hong Kang 15-8, 15-9.
The top seed will play against their compatriots Kamoltip Kulna and Yupa Phokrongploy in the final showdown slated for August 18.
Second seeded Kamoltip Kulna and Yupa Phokrongploy, gold medalists at the last year's Vientiane-hosted South East Asian (SEA) Games in Laos, got off to a great start following first a magnificent 15-10 15-9 victory over Kazakhstan's Inna Rakimatulina/Issayeva Lyudmila 2-0 (15-10, 15-9) in the morning on Tuesday and then over Malaysia's Jessie Lee Jay See/Tan Chiew Lee 2-0 (15-7, 15-6). in a totally one-sided 20-minute battle in the noon to finish first in Pool B.
The in-formed Thai duo continued their good performance with a third win over China's Wang Tingting and Zhao Lidu, top finisher of Pool C, 2-0 (21-15, 21-19) in 39 minutes in the afternoon to earn the other final ticket.
Wang Tingting and Zhao Lidu will meet Kazakhstan's Mashkova Tatyana/Tsimbalova Irina to vie the third place, also scheduled for August 18. |
