Liupanshui, China, August 16, 2010 – Top seeded men's teams registered scintillating wins on the opening day of the 2010 AVC Beach Tour Liupanshui Open here to secure their second-round berths in the three-day tournament.

Participating in the tournament are 20 squads who are divided into eight pools for the preliminary round.

Top seed Sittichai Sangkhachot/Teerapat Poliueang of Thailand powered past host duo Zhou Hao/Sun Yuankun 2-0 (15-13, 15-12) in just 27 minutes in Pool A while second seeded Sam O'Dea and Ben O'Dea from New Zealand, who won the men's title in the 2nd Khanom-Federbrau Asian Beach Volleyball in April in Thailand, took 33 minutes to beat Kiew Choing Ung/Mohamen Fitri Bin Salem of Malaysia 2-1 (15-11, 10-15, 11-7) in Pool B.

The winners of the two pools already booked their berths in the next round as the two pools each have only two teams.

Also entering the second round are Iran's Bahman Chollpory/M. Mehd in Pool G. The hard-hit Iranians first walked over 7th seeded Sergey Bogatu/Dmitruy Yakovlev of Kazakhstan 2-0 (15-12, 15-8) in 25 minutes and then thrashed 10th seed Wong Chun Wai/Wong Kwun Pong of Hong Kang 2-0 (15-12, 15-12) in 32 minutes.

However the fate of Kia Shoushtarizadeh/Akbar Khodaverdi, also from Iran, is not as good as their compatriots as they lost to 5th seed Mahesh Perera M. Jude/Bombuwala Wasantha of Sri Lanka in straight sets 15-17 and 8-15 after they clinched their first match with a 2-1(15-10, 14-16, 12-10) hard-fought battle in 40 minutes in Pool E.

Meanwhile, host China fared well when an impressive duo of 9th seed Gu Qing/Bao Qiuqi beat Singapore's Yeo Kok How/Soh Xing Hao 2-0 (15-7, 15-10) in only 20 minutes to meet India's Poothathan Mohan/JPradeep John to vie the top place of Pool H, who also crushed the Sinpapore duo 2-0.

Another Chinese duo Lin Wuqin/Lu Zequan, seeded only 22nd, easily defeated 11th seed Mercer William/Grice Casey of Australia 2-0 (15-10, 15-9) in Pool F while the third duo Zhou Hao/Sun Yuankun suffered their defeat in Pool A.

The AVC Beach Tour Liupanshui Open continues on Tuesday with seven matches of men's preliminary round, and four matches of round 16.
