Stare Jablonki, Poland, August 7, 2010 - Two men's teams from Germany won quarter-final matches here Saturday to guarantee the European country a spot in the finals of the US$600,000 Mazury Orlen Grand Slam after Beach Volleyball pairs form Brazil and the United States secured the first two "final four" berths in the seventh annual event at the Hotel Anders.

Reigning Olympic gold medal winners and newly-crowned SWATCH FIVB World Tour champions Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers of the United States netted the first semi-final berth followed by Marcio Araujo/Ricardo Santos of Brazil, and the German pairs of Julius Brink/Jonas Reckermann and David Klemperer/Eric Koreng.

The top-seeded tandem in the 32-team Mazury Orlen Grand Slam Main Draw, Dalhausser and Rogers will play fifth-seeded Marcio Araujo and Ricardo in Sunday's first semi-final followed by second-seeded Brink and Reckermann against 19th-seeded Klemperer and Koreng. All four teams won their pools Friday to earn first-round "byes" for Saturday's opening elimination matches on the Hotel Anders courts.

Dalhausser and Rogers have defeated the Brazilians in the only match between the two teams at May's Grand Slam opener in Rome. Brink and Reckermann have won two of three SWATCH FIVB World Tour meetings with Klemperer and Koreng, including a victory at the end of May in Myslowice, Poland. The 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Tour champions, Brink and Reckermann had missed the last four events in Norway, Switzerland, France and Austria as both had knee problems.

The men's semi-finals and medal matches will be played Sunday at the Mazury Orlen Grand Slam, the sixth and final "major" event on the 2010 SWATCH FIVB World Tour calendar. With the Hotel Anders hosting the men since 2004, the third women's final in Stare Jablonki was played Saturday where Brazilians Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa France captured the $43,500 first-place prize.

Dalhausser and Rogers, who clinched the international circuit title with their first serve Thursday during their opening Mazury Orlen Grand Slam pool play match, eliminated teams from The Netherlands and Brazil to advance to their 10th-straight semi-final this season. The Americans will be seeking their seventh SWATCH FIVB World Tour gold medal in 2010.

With 14 SWATCH FIVB World Tour gold medals to their credit since 2006, Dalhausser and Rogers opened play Saturday with a 21-15 and 21-15 victory over 12th-seeded Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil of The Netherlands before eliminating third-seeded Alison Cerutti and Emanuel Rego of Brazil 21-17 and 21-17 in 39 minutes.

Marcio Araujo and Ricardo advanced to their third-straight Grand Slam "final four" by defeating 24th-seeded Tarjei Skarlund/Martin Spinnangr of Norway 21-14, 13-21 and 15-9 in 50 minutes and 16th-seeded Brazilian rivals Harley Marques/Pedro Salgado 21-13, 14-21 and 15-12 in 64 minutes.

Ricardo is a four-time Stare Jablonki gold medal winner with Emanuel (2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008) as Brazilian pairs have topped the podium five times in the last six events. Salgado won the 2009 Hotel Anders event with Benjamin Insfran, who was eliminated earlier Saturday with partner Bruno Oscar Schmidt by 17th-seeded Jefferson Bellaguarda and Martin Laciga of Switzerland.

Brink and Reckermann, who dropped the 2009 Hotel Anders finale to Benjamin and Salgado in three sets, began Saturday with a 19-21, 21-18 and 15-9 victory in 68 minutes over 27th-seeded Renato "Geor" Gomes/Jorge "Gia" Terceiro of Georgia before ousting 23rd-seeded Petr Benes/Premysl Kubala of the Czech Republic 21-14 and 21-19 in 39 minutes.

Klemperer and Koreng, who have played in two Grand Slam finals this season with a gold medal in Norway, scored victories Saturday over Bellaguarda/ Laciga 21-19, 15-21, and 20-18 in 83 minutes and seventh-seeded Jake Gibb/Sean Rosenthal of the United States 22-20 and 22-20 in 43 minutes. Both the Americans and Swiss were Main Draw qualifiers from Wednesday's preliminary rounds.
