Tokyo, Japan, August 2, 2010 – Former Japan men's team coach and captain Yuzo Nakamura passed away at the age of 68 on July 20.

Mr. Nakamura was deemed a Volleyball legend in Japan, helping lead his country to the 1972 Munich Olympic Games Volleyball gold medal as captain of the side. He also picked up bronze at the 1964 Tokyo games as well as two bronze medals at the 1974 and 1978 FIVB World Championships.

As coach of the side he led his team to silver at the 1977 FIVB World Cup, equaling their best ever result, a feat that is yet to be beaten.

He will be sadly missed by the Volleyball family.
