Beijing, China, November 30, 2009 – The Sports Event Council of the Asian Volleyball Confederation held its annual meeting on Sunday here and finalized the AVC 2010 official competitions.

The meeting noted with satisfactions that the AVC events drew more teams participating in the year of 2009, a sign that the Asian indoor volleyball is developing and making steady progress. The meeting reviewed one by one the events in 2009, and was proud to say in general all the competitions were smoothly held and successful, but the meeting also pointed out the organization and preparations of some events needed to be improved.

The meeting pointed out that the Asian Senior Championships and Asian Cup are the highest level events in AVC, which catch more interests and attention from media and sponsors. Therefore the SEC will make more detailed requirements for the application and approval process.

The AVC SEC will make the following proposal to AVC Board of Administration for approval: the representatives of the AVC official events’ organizers to attend AVC B/A meeting and report to the meeting on the preparations and organizations work. The SEC said all documents of application must be approved by the meeting and AVC. Then they are the final which must be implemented by the organizers.

l The 8th Asian Youth Boys’ Championship in Tehran of Iran May 13-21 (Qualification

Tournament for 2010 Youth Olympic Games and 2011 Boys’ Youth World Championship)

l The 8th Asian Youth Girls’ Championship Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia, May 20-28 (Qualification Tournament for 2010 Youth Olympic Games and 2011 Girls’ Youth World Championship)

l Asian Men’s Club Championship, Zhenjiang of China, June 5-13 (Qualification Tournament for 2010 Men’s Club World Championship)

l Asian Women’s Club Championship, Gresik-Surabaya of Indonesia, June 26 - July 4 (Qualification Tournament for 2010 Women’s Club World Championship)

l The 15th Asian Jr. Women Championship, Hai Duong City of Vietnam, September 12-20

(Qualification Tournament for 2011 Jr. Women’s World Championship)

l The 15th Asian Jr. Men Championship, Thailand, October 1-10 (Qualification

Tournament for 2011 Jr. Men’s World Championship)

l The 2nd Asian Men’s Cup, in Tehran of Iran, September 13-19

l The 2nd Asian Women’s Cup, in Taicang of China, September 19-25 (Qualification

The meeting also made several other proposals for AVC B/A meeting for approval, including the competition formulas for AVC events..
