Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, May 13, 2009 --The Confederation of Asia Volleyball (AVC) Board of Administration meeting held its annual meeting here under the chairmanship of AVC President Dr. Bin Nasser. FIVB President Jizhong Wei was invited to the meeting.

Mohammed Mohammed Mufti, President of Saudi Arabian Volleyball Federation, in his welcome speech expressed his warm welcome to AVC B/A members to attend the meeting and hope that the meeting would be fruitful and beneficial for the sport of Volleyball in the Asian Continent and to ensure positive impact of the conclusions.

Mr. Jizhong Wei told the meeting that "it is my great pleasure to meet my friends whom I worked with for 10 years." He is confident that AVC under the leadership of its president Dr. Saleh Bin Nasser will make further progress in developing and populizing volleyball.

Then the FIVB President briefed the AVC B/A meeting the recent reforms FIVB is making. (see another story on Mr Wei's remark.)

AVC President Dr. Nasser said in his report "I will follow Mr. Wei's plans and his model of work and respect all the areas he grounded.

The AVC President noted that AVC has achieved extraordinary successes in every field, smoothly organizing many competitions of Volleyball and Beach Volleyball, encouraging as many as AVC members to participate and host international competitions and helping less-developed countries to promote volleyball.

However, Dr. Nasser pointed that AVC is still facing a lot of challenges and must double efforts to fulfill our tasks.

"The 18th AVC General Assembly is to be held in this September and we are going to make plans and take effective measures so as to continue the march Mr. Wei initiated and try our best to make AVC stronger and Volleyball more progressive and developed."

"AVC is to organize more high-level competitions and further promote and popularize volleyball in AVC region.," AVC President said.

"As AVC president, I assure my colleagues that I will devote my utmost efforts to raise all fields of our Confederation to a higher level. With the support and effort from AVC E/C, B/A, NFs and those who pay attention to Asian Volleyball, we are sure that we will continue our work more efficiently and AVC will become better and better," Dr. Nasser concluded.

AVC B/A meeting agreed that Mr. Tran Duc Phan Secretary General of Vietnam Volleyball Federation to replace Mr. Ha Manh Thu as B/A member and Mr. Zhu Jiaming to be B/A member in replacing Mr. Jizhong Wei. The meeting decided to put the two proposals to the coming General Assembly for approval.

The AVC B/A meeting also heard reports from five zones and all the Technical Committee, expressed their satisfaction with their work.

The AVC B/A meeting also approved by acclamation a proposal made by Mr. Yim Hyung Bin, Eastern Zone Executive Vice-President, to invite Mr. Jizhong Wei to become AVC Honorary Life President. The meeting decided to take the proposal to the General Assembly for approval.
