Seoul, Korea, January 14, 2009 – On a visit to Korea, FIVB President Wei Jizhong met Wednesday with Korean Volleyball Association Executive Vice President Mr. Byung-Lae Park, KVA Managing Director and FIVB Coach Instructor Mr. Chun-Pyo Lee, FIVB Board Member Dr. Yang-Ja Hong, Asian Volleyball Confederation Vice President Mr. Hyung-Bin Yim and AVC Sports Event Council Secretary Dr. Han-Joo Eom.
President Wei and his wife were also welcomed by Dr. Jae-Kee Cho, Secretary General of the Korean Olympic Committee.
President Wei said, "The core of our sport, Volleyball, is the players. Volleyball organisation, administration, officials, et cetera, must cooperate with each other to provide players with the best surroundings."
The FIVB President congratulated the KVA for its on-going organisation of an FIVB World Grand Prix preliminary round. Korea will host Pool H of the 2009 FIVB World Grand Prix Pool on the weekend of August 14-16.
KVA Managing Director Lee responded by saying, "We will try further to be more active in international Volleyball by hosting more international matches."
Beach Volleyball's SWATCH FIVB World Tour will also return to Korea in 2009 with the Seoul Open scheduled through May 26-31.
On Wednesday morning, President Wei also made a courtesy call on Mr. In-Chon Yu, Minister of the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. |
