Hanoi, Vietnam, December 28, 2008 –Mr. Le Minh Hong, Vice-President of PetroVietnam, has been elected as new President of Vietnam Volleyball Federation and Mr.Tran Duc Phan as General Secretary at the General Assembly of Vietnam Volleyball Federation.
The General Assembly was held in Hanoi in middle of Demcember with the participation of 101 delegates from club teams, local affiliated federations and 70 guests, including media and TV reporters.
The General Assembly elected 23 Board of Administration members, including the President, five Vice-president and the General Secretary.
Mr. Le Minh Hong was born in 1957 and started his work in Oil and Gas Industry since 1982, and he was Headmaster of Oil and Gas Technical College, Headmaster of Oil and Gas Human Resource Development Training Center and now is the Vice President of PetroVietnam.
The General Assembly noted that Volleyball is a popular sport in Vietnam, people play volleyball everywhere from the villages to the factory and industrial zones; from school to the competitions in the whole country. The volleyball festival in Ho Chi Minh City annually attracted hundreds teams from high schools. The light volleyball festival for the elders in Hanoi is also a favorite movement.
The meeting said the national men and women teams of Vietnam is making impressive progress in recent years and have achieved better result over the last few years in the region and Asian competitions.
Beach volleyball also gets good achievement since 2002 when it became the official sport in the National Games. Every year we organize four national tours and one international invitational tournament (for women). We had built some courts in the beach cities for beach volleyball training and competitions.
The Assembly stressed that Under the leadership of the new President and General Secretary, Volleyball Federation of Vietnam will try their best for further development of volleyball in the country. |
