Beijing, China, March 20, 2010 -- The Chinese Volleyball Association (CVA) announced the other day the formation of the new men's national volleyball team for World Championship and the Asian Games, which CVA considers the two most important events for the Chinese Volleyball in the year of 2010.

The line-up of the newly-formed men's national team is almost the same as last year and no key new faces appeared in the team.

Among the 19 players, 15 will be taking part in training camps slated for March 25. Only Yuan Zhi, a former veteran opposite, returned to the national team again. The rosters are:

Wing attackers: Shen Qiong, Cui Jianjun, Zhong Weijun, Zhang Chen, Chen Ping

Setters: Jiao Shuai, Li Runming, Chen Jiameng

Middle blockers: Yu Dawei, Guo Peng, Bian Hongmin; Liang Chunlong, Xu Jintao

Opposite: Jiang Kun, Yuan Zhi, Dai Qingyao, Liu Tingwei

Liberos: Ren Qi. Ding Hui.

Dai Qingyao, Chen Jiameng, Liu Tingwei and Guo Peng, will not join the closed training for time being.

The Chinese men's national team were not stable in their performance last year. They defeated Beijing Olympic Champion the United States, Atlanta Olympic title holder the Netherlands and European strong team Italy, but they finished a poor fourth after losing to Japan, Korea and Iran in the Asian Championships, the most important and the highest level Asian event.

Head coach Zhou Jian'an pointed out after the formation of the new team that "My players often show ups and downs and there are still many problems in the team, especially in psychology and the ability to counter pressures."

"The cruel fact is that if we can not win the first place in Asia, we are not able to participate in the London Olympic Games. We will try our utmost to raise the level of our team. In order to achieve our set goals, we can not content ourselves with the results we had, and we must adopt new tactics, putting stress on playing fast and flexible ball," Zhou added.
