Beijing, China, May 9, 2008 -- The 14th Asian Junior Women's Volleyball Championship, which also doubles as the qualifying tournament for the next year's World Women's Junior Volleyball Championship, will be held in Taipei from September 20 to 28.
The Asian Junior Women Championship kicks off on September 20 with a total of 11 teams vying for the top honour and the tickets to the world meet. The drawing of lots were held recently in Beijing.
The participating teams in the Asian Women’s Junior Championship are drawn into two pools with hosts Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Australia, Indonesia in Pool A and China, Japan, Sri Lanka, India, New Zealand and Korea in Pool B.
After the group round-robin preliminaries, the quarter-finals will take place on September 26 and the semi-finals on September 27. The finals will be held on September 28.
China, Japan and Thailand finished the top three at the last edition held in Thailand in October of 2006.
