Bali, Indonesia, June 8, 2006 – AVC Board of Administration at the meeting held here expressed their satisfaction with the volleyball development in Asian and decided to take stronger actions to promote Asian Volleyball further. AVC B/A meeting praised the work of the Technical Committees and Councils towards continued improvements in all aspects of the sports, and heard of significant progress in development of volleyball and beach volleyball. The meeting was very happy to witness great improvements and FIVB is satisfied with volleyball developments in Asian. * Most of the FIVB competitions were organized in Asia, which means AVC made contribution to FIVB and provided great help in raising Asian volleyball to a higher level.
* More and more AVC NFs became active and actively participate in the FIVB and AVC events.
* After the AVC Central Zone organized their zonal championship earlier this year, AVC five Zones now all have their own zonal championships.
* A record teams took part in the 2006 FIVB World Championships qualification tournaments. A total of 33 teams from 21 National Federations sent entries to the 2006 World Championships, an almost 35% increase on the teams from 11 NFs in the previous edition.
* More beach volleyball competitions are to be organized.
* The three FIVB Development Centers made great contribution to the development and promotion in Asia. Meanwhile, AVC B/A meeting also noticed that volleyball and beach volleyball are still low in many of AVC region. There are only 18 out of 65 Senior National Men's teams and 12 out of the senior women's national teams participating in the continental championships. The figures clearly indicate that there is a huge need to reduce the gap between the "active" and "inactive" federations, and to increase participation of the smaller less visible federations. The meeting here agreed to focus on driving towards the sports of volleyball and beach volleyball. * To urge zonal associations to organize more competitions.
* National Federations with B/A members to become more vigorous, striving for upgrading to a higher category.
* To focus on increasing national and international participation through programmes aim at introducing mass volleyball.
* To speed up the development of beach volleyball. AVC to encourage the establishment of beach volleyball training centers and organize Asian beach volleyball tour.
* To take full and further advantage of FIVB Development Centers and encourage NFs to take part in various kinds of courses and seminars held in Asia. At the same time to make the centers programmes more diversification. |
